“Mowi are delighted to welcome the FSV Scotia to Mallaig, the hub of our harvesting operation in Scotland and are confident that this technologically advanced vessel and the operational experience of Trident Aqua Services will help to facilitate Mowi’s plans for sustainable growth in Scotland. This new vessel, along with our existing infrastructure in Mallaig and Fort William give us the capacity to realise those growth plans in the decades to come.”, says Scott Nolan, Sales and Processing Director of Mowi Scotland.

Built for sustainable and gentle harvesting
FSV Scotia is based on the Aurora 500 SD design from Sirius Design & Integration. Measuring 50 meters in length and 12 meters in beam, the vessel has a RSW capacity of 500 m³. It is equipped with a modern onboard processing plant supplied by Baader, tailored for gentle and efficient harvesting.

“FSV Scotia has been designed and built with a clear focus on fish welfare, biosecurity and maintaining fish quality throughout the harvesting process. Seeing it already deliver strong results for our customer underlines thei mportance of close collaboration and skilled crews,” says Arild Aasmyr, CEO of Trident Aqua Services.

“This also reflects our vision of safeguarding sustainable seafood production, ensuring that every step in the value chain is carried out with responsibility and care.”

The vessel is powered by two main propulsion units and features Brunvoll FU-series tunnel thrusters, ensuring excellent manoeuvrability in harsh environment. The main propellers are driven by electric motors via a reduction gearbox, optimized through variable RPM for efficiency across the power range.

The hull was constructed by Finomar in Poland beforebeing outfitted at Fitjar Mekaniske Verksted in Norway. FSV Scotia is the forth newbuild delivered from Fitjar to Trident Aqua Services, following Aqua Mist, Multi Arctic, and FSV Superior, in addition to the major rebuild of Multi Safety.
